Conservative King of Storytelling to Commemorate Anniversary on March 24 with Special Edition of The Savage Nation®

SAN FRANCISCO, March 23, 2015 – Michael Savage will celebrate 21 years in radio on March 24 as one of America’s most influential talk radio hosts with a special program that will reflect on his more than two decades on the air.

Savage will celebrate the milestone live during Tuesday’s airing of The Savage Nation® by encouraging listeners to call in and share their favorite memories from past shows. Savage will also play rare archival show segments from over the years throughout the program.

This year Savage began ushering in a new era of talk radio with his groundbreaking “Unprotected Talk” format that he uses to interact with listeners on topical current events and lifestyle issues. The new format pioneered by Savage challenges the talk radio industry by combining timely political content with the real-life issues that his millions of listeners are talking about every day including topics such as health, science, religion, culture and more.

“I am elated to celebrate this momentous occasion with the millions of listeners who have supported me over the past 21 years,” said Savage. “Taking ‘The Savage Nation’ across the country with Cumulus to more than 200 stations has been a tremendous honor and I look forward to many more years on the air.”

During the anniversary show, Savage will air his original talk radio demo tape, as well as a collection of clips from the early years of The Savage Nation®. The special show will include a variety of listener favorites and clips from interviews with some of Savage’s most memorable callers such as storied World War II hero Sid the Veteran, inventor of the neutron bomb Samuel Cohen and Joe, a man who considered taking his own life before Savage dissuaded him.

The Savage Nation®, airing daily from 3p-6p EST, has become one of the country’s most-listened-to talk radio programs and a top streaming show online. Originally developed in 1994, The Savage Nation® has risen in popularity over the past two decades, evolving from strictly politics to commentary on news and other hot topics. The Savage Nation® is distributed by Westwood One to more than 200 stations across the nation, including 60 stations owned and operated by Cumulus Media.

In addition to hosting The Savage Nation® for 21 years, Savage has authored more than 20 books, including six New York Times bestsellers. Most recently, his book "Stop the Coming Civil War" (Hachette) has been on the New York Times best-seller list for five weeks and he will release his third novel in the Jack Hatfield series later this spring, "Countdown to Mecca" (St. Martin's Press). He was awarded the coveted Freedom of Speech Award by Talkers Magazine in 2007 and earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.
