Motel 6 Commercial Chosen as Listeners’ Choice and Media Choice

NEW YORK, NY, February 8, 2017 – The results are in for the Westwood One Sports Sound Awards. In its fourth consecutive year, the Westwood One Sports Sound Awards ranked the most popular audio commercials airing during Westwood One’s Super Bowl LI broadcast. After all, why should TV have all the fun?!

Motel 6 landed the top spot in this year’s Westwood One Sports Sound Awards. The hotel chain, famous for their “we’ll leave the light on for you” tagline, created a humorous commercial where their official spokesman, Tom Bodett, tries to incorporate millennial lingo to promote Motel 6. In the infamous words of Tom Bodett, the ad truly was “on fleek.”

Here are the runners-up in this year’s competition:

Coming in 2nd place was also Motel 6 with their ad “Disclaimer” which found Tom Bodett trying his best to not mention certain trademarked names that would land the hotel chain in legal trouble.

Coming in 3rd place was a newcomer to the Westwood One Sports Sound Awards, Hagerty Insurance. Hagerty pulled on the heartstrings of car lovers everywhere while taking listeners back to the first car they owned.

Starting on Wednesday, February 1st, listeners began voting for their favorite Super Bowl audio commercial on Commercials from the participating brands were available for consumer voting from Wednesday, February 1st through 12 noon ET on Monday, February 6th, 2017.

The Westwood One Sports Sound Awards was comprised of 26 commercials that aired on the 650+ radio stations broadcasting Westwood One’s exclusive, national play-by-play coverage of Super Bowl LI.
