Sunday Night Talk Show Now Heard on more than 60 Stations Nationwide
NEW YORK, NY, August 22, 2018 – Break out the party hats! Westwood One, the largest audio network in the U.S., is celebrating the first anniversary of Sterling on Sunday. The company’s syndicated Sunday night talk show, featuring radio storyteller Walter Sterling, celebrated the one year milestone this past Sunday, August 19. Making the celebration all the more special is the addition of several new affiliates added to the lineup. Sterling on Sunday, a mix of lifestyle, entertainment, and social conversations, now airs live from 10:00 pm ET to 1:00 am ET on more than 60 radio stations including host station WPHT-AM/Philadelphia; WLS-AM/Chicago; KMOX-AM/St. Louis; WBAP-AM/Dallas; WMAL-AM-FM/Washington DC; KDKA-AM/Pittsburgh; KNXT-AM/Las Vegas; KKSF-AM/San Francisco; and KUFO-AM/Portland.
Since the show’s launch a year ago, Sterling on Sunday’s 25-54 audience has tripled due to new affiliations and 83% of its audience is in the top 50 markets. The show’s MIDNITE MISFITS CLUB has connected listeners all across the country and made the program “must-hear” radio every Sunday night.
“My goal is to create a pretty distracting show to take the listener from the weekend to the weekday,” says Sterling. “We’ve grown from one affiliate, WPHT in Philadelphia, to over 60 major market FMs in a year – we have stations from iHeart, Alpha, Cumulus, Entercom, and Townsquare. The most prized affiliate — The Point in Guam, which clears live. Industry support has been exemplary and it’s quite humbling.”
Sterling on Sunday engages listeners with a variety of features from the sublime to the serious. Some of the many highlights of the last year include a surprise on-air engagement, discussions on how to deal with neighbors, the big ‘tween business of slime, plus live team coverage of the hurricanes that hit Florida and Texas last fall. One hallmark of the Sterling on Sunday program has been Asbestos Falls, a scripted drama produced and performed by teenagers from campus radio station KSDB-FM in Manhattan, Kansas. Another “must-hear” moment is The Usual Edition, a weekly parody of public radio.
